Too many chargers become e-waste?

Environmental protection is the trend of the times. China announced that it will achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. In short, emissions should be compensated. First of all, technology companies have their own plans and measures. Apple claims that it has achieved carbon neutrality in operators and will achieve carbon neutrality in all products by 2030. Since the beginning of the iPhone 12, Apple has simply equipped with charging head, which is based on environmental protection considerations, but the price does not deduct the cost of charger.

In fact, the French version of the iPhone 12 still retains headphones, and apple canceled the headphone hole and acquired beats headphones, becoming the world's largest manufacturer of headphones. Will Apple become the largest manufacturer of accessories in the next step if it doesn't send chargers, so as to improve its profits.

Samsung S21 doesn't give charging heads and earphones since S21, even writing pens. Xiaomi has followed suit and announced its environmental protection plan, which is that Xiaomi 11 has the same price for charging heads and no charging. Xiaomi's 55W fast charging is expensive. Will consumers leave their mobile phone's fast charging function idle for the sake of nominal environmental protection and use their home's slow charging ? Meizu also timely launched the environmental protection plan, which is to replace the old charger with the new one, which is at least better. Replacing the old charger at home with a fast charging head can not only participate in environmental protection, but also enable consumers to use fast charging.

At present, with the rapid development of mobile phone charging, the demand for fast charging head is far from saturated. Apple can still accept it without charger, because Apple's charging is very slow, but Android, which is in the arms race of fast charging, is completely different. It is a real problem not to send charger. A series of Huawei mobile phones have 40W, Xiaomi 33W, 55W, oppo 65W, and even higher 120W fast charging There is a big demand gap for GaN fast charging, which is just emerging at present. There should be at least three mobile phones for family, unit and vehicle. If you choose them separately, they are expensive. The slow charging heads that were used many years ago have indeed become e-waste, and they are rarely used when idle. However, the current fast charging heads are far from being e-waste and do not need to be attached. Do not harm the interests of consumers.

For the sake of competition, fast charging protocol cannot be mixed. All of them are using different fast charging protocols. Xiaomi's fast charging protocol is not supported by Huawei, Qualcomm's QC protocol, oppo's vooc flash charging protocol, Huawei's SCP protocol, MediaTek's PE protocol, and various early charging protocols. Many of them are not compatible. Now my glory 30pro, which supports 40W charging, can't use oppo's 65W fast charging. There are many kinds of fast charging technologies on the market, many of which are incompatible, right For consumers, it's too complicated. As a result, most people only use the original charger attached to the mobile phone box. So if the manufacturer doesn't give it away, it will undoubtedly let consumers take out another part of the money to buy it. It's a disguised price increase.

In fact, the solution is that the manufacturer should mark the cost of the charging head, so that users can choose. If the charging head is not attached, then the purchasing cost of the charging head should be subtracted from the normal selling price of the mobile phone, and then the charging head should be put on the shelf separately, which will be more reasonable. As a unified charging agreement in the future, PD protocol is not advancing fast enough, and the charging power in PD protocol is not enough It's high enough. Some of them are not 100% compatible. I hope mobile phone manufacturers will be forced to comply in the future.
