Similar to Google glasses, smarteyeglass can display information in real time in front of users' eyes. But unlike Google glasses, Sony's prototype is more like ordinary glasses, displaying information in green on transparent lenses.

In a video provided by Sony, users walk into an airport and get directions to check-in counters. Other uses of the product include getting the latest scores and players' names when watching the game, sending and receiving text messages, and getting tips for missed calls.

Sony smarteyeglass adopts binocular display technology, which makes the display of text present a sense of distance and easier to read. The product also integrates embedded cameras, microphones, and smartphone like sensors, including accelerometers, gyroscopes, and digital compasses.

This product is still in the prototype stage, not as mature as Google glasses. Its operation needs to be completed by a separate control by wire, and the touch panel on the control by wire provides navigation, power and camera buttons. Currently, smarteyeglass can be used with Android phones. The application for the smart glasses runs in the mobile phone, and the smart glasses interact with the mobile phone through Bluetooth or WiFi.

Sony said it is developing an SDK for smarteyeglass based on the same framework as Smartwatch 2. It is not clear when Sony will release the smart glasses and its SDK.
