Samsung's first usb-c charger ep-ta800: AFC fast charging not supported
Previously, charging head netizens reported that Samsung's standard charger has shielded qc2.0 fast charging since S9, and only retained its own AFC fast charging protocol, and this specification has been used in subsequent chargers of note9, S10 and other models. But when it comes to the S105G version of Samsung, the standard charger has changed a lot, even its own AFC fast charging protocol has been blocked.
Recently, the charging head network has obtained the original charger of Samsung S105G version and carried out relevant tests. According to the test data of chargerlab power-z fl001super, this 25W charger of ep-ta800 only supports USB PD, and other common fast charging protocols can not be compatible (including AFC).
Further test of the PDO message of the charger shows that the charger has two fixed voltage ranges of 5V / 3a and 9V / 2.77a, and two PPS voltage ranges of 3.3-5.9v/3a and 3.3-11v/2.75a. In other words, this is a USB pd3.0 PPS fast charging charger.
Can this charger support Samsung's past models? The charging head network has also carried out relevant tests on Samsung S10 plus, and the results show that the fast charging can be started normally, because Samsung S10 plus itself supports USB PD fast charging protocol.
Not only that, this charger can also support the fast charging of iPhone XS max, Xiaomi 9, Huawei mate20 pro, Meizu 16xs, iPad air3 and other devices. The following is the detailed test data:
Samsung ep-ta800 charger charges Samsung S10 plus mobile phone. Power-z km001c shows that the charging voltage is 9.03v, the current is 1.62a, and the charging power is about 14.7w. It supports USB PD fast charging.
Charge Xiaomi 9, charging voltage 9.15v, current 2.52a, charging power about 23W, support USB PD fast charging.
Charge Huawei mate20 pro, display voltage is 9.03v, current is 1.77a, charging power is about 16W, support USB PD fast charging.
Charge Meizu 16xs with 7.76v voltage, 1.82A current and 14.15w charging power, and support USB PD fast charging.
Charging the iPad air3, the voltage is 9.04v, the current is 2.59a, and the charging power is about 23.5w. It supports USB PD fast charging.

Summary of charging head network
Through the protocol testing and compatibility testing of this charger, we know that the standard 25W usb-c charger of Samsung S105G version only supports USB pd3.0 PPS fast charging protocol, and is not compatible with AFC and other common fast charging protocols of Samsung chargers in the past. However, there are more and more devices using USB PD fast charging, so in terms of compatibility, this usb-c charger is better than the previous usb-a charger, with greater power and faster charging speed.
