Power discount? Test of different power PD chargers on the air 13.3 inch 0 ~ 100% charge of Xiaomi notebook

1、 Preface

Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 "focuses on mobile office. It's lighter in volume and weight. The eighth generation of four core processor has good performance and can also take into account the battery life. Some users often carry them out of office, so they have higher requirements for charging speed. In short, the faster the charging, the better the experience.

Fortunately, the Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 "supports USB PD fast charging, and the charging power recorded by the charging head network in the previous test is up to 50W, which can charge nearly half of the power in half an hour. Such an efficient charging performance can be said to be very good.

In addition, Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 "only supports the charging of PD charger with 20V voltage, 9V, 12V and 15V can't be charged (see: Please note! This kind of charger can't charge the Xiaomi notebook. At present, there are 20V PD chargers on the market, with power of 30W, 45W and 65W. Xiaobian found three chargers that meet these power. They charge Xiaomi notebook air13.3 "respectively to see their performance. By the way, we can see what kind of charging strategy Xiaomi notebook will adopt for each power charger. Each product has a charging strategy. Different types and different power laptops will have different results when charging.

2、 Testing

First of all, let's take a look at the whole power change of these three chargers when charging the air of Xiaomi notebook.

1. Original 65W charger

As can be seen from the charging power curve above, the original 65W of Xiaomi notebook is used The whole charging process of PD charger has gone through two stages: 1. At the beginning of charging, the power gradually rises from 44.67w to 50.23w, which takes 41 minutes to control the constant current at the battery end; 2. After 41 minutes, it enters the constant voltage stage, the current begins to decrease, and then the power begins to decrease gradually, and drops to 0W at 2 hours and 12 minutes, with the highest power in the whole charging process It is 50W, which is a common CCCV curve of lithium battery.

2. Xiaomi 45W charger

Let's take a look at a power change when using Xiaomi 45W PD charger to charge Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 ". Smart partners should be able to see that its power curve is very similar to that of 65W charger. It has gone through two stages, but there are also differences, mainly in the first stage. Its first power stage is constant current and constant power stage at the input end. In this stage, the power is maintained at about 38.75w for 52 minutes. Then it enters the constant voltage stage, which lasts until the charging is completed in 2 hours and 20 minutes. The maximum power in the whole process is 38.75w, which is a common CCCV curve at the input end of lithium battery.
3. Apple 30W charger

Finally, let's look at a power change when Apple's 30W PD charger charges the air 13.3 "of Xiaomi notebook. The charging also goes through two stages: 1. Constant current and constant power stage at the input end, lasting for 1 hour and 4 minutes, and the power is maintained at about 31.15w; 2. Constant voltage stage, after 1 hour and 4 minutes, the current gradually decreases, and the power also decreases to 0W at 2 hours and 35 minutes, and the charging is completed, which is also a common CCCV curve at the input end of lithium battery.

Put the data of 30W, 45W and 65W together to analyze the whole process power change of these three chargers when charging the Xiaomi notebook air.

In terms of power change of Xiaomi notebook air, 65W PD charger performs best and charges fastest, charging nearly 50% of the power in half an hour, taking 2 hours and 12 minutes in the whole process; followed by 45W PD charger, charging nearly 40% of the power in half an hour, taking 2 hours and 20 minutes in the whole process; finally, there is no doubt that 30 PD charger, charging 31% of the power in half an hour, taking 2 hours and 35 minutes in the whole process.

3、 Summary of charging head network
As a notebook that supports USB PD fast charging, it can charge nearly 50% of the power in half an hour, which is very good. But if you want to have this super fast experience, you need to see if your charger has enough power. In the test, you need to achieve the fastest charging speed, which means you need a 65W PD charger.

In the whole process, 65W charger takes 2 hours and 12 minutes, 45W charger takes 2 hours and 20 minutes, 30W charger takes 2 hours and 35 minutes. Generally speaking, 45W PD and 65W PD have little difference, and 30W PD and 65W PD have a difference of 23 minutes. It is normal that the power point will slow down. Because the later constant voltage state takes too long, so the whole time consumption of several chargers did not open the gap to reach the order of magnitude.

Xiaobian also used a 100W charger to charge the air 13.3 "of Xiaomi notebook in the later stage, and the recorded power was the same as that of 65W charger, which was the highest 50W. In addition, considering that the power of baking machine would not be higher, Xiaobian conducted charging test during baking machine, and found that the temperature rise of baking machine and charging power were lower, so it can be judged that the highest charging power of Xiaomi notebook air 13.3" was about 50W.

However, when tested with 45W charger, the power failed to reach 45W full load, only about 39W, which could reach 50W, but when charged with 45W charger, it could not reach 45W, so the power was "discounted"? Finally, Xiaobian uses a 30W charger to charge it. This time, there is no "discount". The 30W charger is a full load charging strategy.

That's the Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 ″ for the charging test of different power chargers, there is little difference in the power time between 0% and 100% in the whole process. To quickly restore the battery life, you need to use a 65W power charger. You can choose products with corresponding power according to your own needs. In addition, one charger is not enough. The editor of the next article will teach you how to choose the Xiaomi notebook air 13.3 "of the" second "charger, if you want to see it, please continue to pay attention.
