If I put the super flash biscuit on the table, no one would think it is a charger, or even think it is a 50W charger.
After all, in our traditional cognition, chargers are round if they are not square. With the property of high power, the volume of chargers should also become larger.
However, oppo does put 50W power into a shell the size of Wangwang Xianbei, which is half the size of the same power charger. But in fact, I think it is more like an SD card reader, because both are oblate, and they are only as big as the palm.
Before the evaluation, it should be noted that the super flash biscuit evaluated this time is the engineering test version, and the experience may be different from the mass production version later. Therefore, the test results are only for reference, and the actual mass production version shall prevail.
However, although it is an engineering version, the packaging of super flash biscuits is still in place, and they are basically packaged according to the mass production version. The brown leather case attached with the box is the storage bag of the super flash biscuit, which is just the size to install the charger and the data line attached with the box. However, even if the combination of one charging line and one charging line is installed, the whole set of equipment is still small.
Because the charger body is oblate, so I put it into the pocket of jeans which is close to the body, and it will not bulge a small bag. Another advantage of this design is that it won't hinder the placement of other devices. For example, I can stack it with my mobile phone, and I can easily pick it up and put it in my pocket. For a high-power charger, the super flash biscuit weighs about 60g, which is similar to the airpods pro with two earplugs (56.4g). Compared with the two 30W chargers like Xiaomi and apple, the weight of super flash biscuits will be about 5g or even 50g lighter. Compared with the 65W Anker powerport III and ThinkPlus 65W 120g chargers, the volume and weight advantages of super flash biscuits will be more obvious.
It is worth mentioning that the manufacturer of super flash biscuits is Nanjing borand, which also manufactures ThinkPlus series chargers for Lenovo, the most famous of which is 65W lipstick charger.
In fact, according to the official perspective of oppo, the motherboard and other parts of the super flash biscuit only account for two-thirds of the interior, and the remaining one-third is reserved for folding pins. Therefore, theoretically, the super flash biscuit can be smaller.
But even so, oppo has not reduced the size of the charger to the minimum. Here, I think on the one hand, it is necessary to retain the design of folding pins, on the other hand, it is also necessary to make room for heat dissipation for high power output. In short, it is out of consideration of temperature and safety.
Of course, oppo may also have other considerations, and finally choose the design scheme with super flash biscuit. The key to make 50W power as long as 10 mm thick and two SD cards is that oppo uses pulse charging technology this time. Based on this technology, the charger cancels the electrolytic capacitor, and after rectification, it can directly charge the battery with the circuit, so as to reduce the heat of the charger itself.
At the same time, oppo also customized a set of transformers to further reduce the vertical occupation of internal parts, and finally make the motherboard only 10 mm thick. In fact, as early as the MWC exhibition in 2016, oppo had already released and demonstrated the pulse charging technology, but at that time, the details of the whole vooc platform solution still needed to be polished, or oppo itself had product strategy thinking, so the pulse charging was finally used in the super flash biscuit four years later.
But in addition to portability, what I love more is multi protocol support. In fact, before the press conference, before I received the product and product introduction, I always thought it was only the exclusive charger under the vooc private agreement, but I didn't know it was originally a multi protocol charger. In addition to oppo's supervooc and vooc, which can support 50W and 30W output, it also supports 50W, 27W and 18W charging of PPS, PD and QC. In other words, high-power fast charging is not only for oppo mobile phones and mobile power under the vooc platform ecology. Mobile phones, tablets and computers that support PPS, PD or QC protocols can shake hands and realize high-power fast charging, which can basically cover most of the mobile devices around us.
In the actual measurement, I used iPhone 11 Pro max, oppo reno4 pro, realme X50 pro player version, one plus 8, Huawei P40 PRO +, iPad pro and MacBook Air to test the short-time charging performance and compatibility of the chargers.
